Could Your Website be Hurting Your Image?
Imagine for a moment that you are single, and on a blind date. Everything is going great, you are saying and doing all the right things. You head back to your place for a night cap. You cleaned up and put out the good candles, the ones that smell like cinnamon rolls, and everything is going smoothly.
They excuse them self for a moment to use your bathroom. And that’s when they see it peaking out at them through the slightly opened bathroom cabinet. It’s your “ANTI-FUNGAL CREME”….Yikes! Then all of a sudden they are making up an excuse for why they have to be up early tomorrow morning and you’re passing out alone.
This scenario may seem unrelated to business or Web design but entrepreneurs and businesses do this all the time. Whenever you go to networking events to promote your business with a poor Website this is similar to scenario described. If you haven’t cleaned house you can’t trust that people wont be checking out who they are about to do business with. Same thing when your networking make sure that everything people are going to see immediately looks good. They have a nice business card, a great logo and even a custom name badge.
And don’t think that just because you didn’t mention your Website or say, “Hey go check out my Website” that people aren’t going to go check it out when you’re not around. WRONG.
When you say good night, most of the people you met that day are going to go rummaging through your Website. And what do you think there reaction is going to be when they see a terrible looking Website peaking out at them, Yikes!
And even though people shouldn’t be going through your bathroom cabinet they absolutely are going to check out your Website when they get home to see if the person they had such great conversation with is a potential vendor or someone that they want to do business with.
And while your site might not look as bad as these that is still no excuse for having a poorly designed Website.
